HEAVY DUTY MECHANICS

CB010018Operate within a team to provide a range of repairs and maintenance services to Path Transit’s fleet of buses. This includes planning work, requesting parts and materials, undertaking repairs and maintenance, maintaining records of repairs and servicing and testing the adequacy of repairs and services.

Accountabilities:

  • Conduct repairs and maintenance work on the fleet and attend breakdowns on and off site.
  • Solved problems and achieve competent standards in trade work to meet deadlines.
  • Complete job cards and reporting records for repair and maintenance work for each vehicle.
  • Test all repairs and services to ensure standards are met.
  • Request/order parts and materials to allow the work to be completed within the deadline.
  • Ensure fleet presentation standards are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety & Health, Quality Assurance and Environmental policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
  • Contribute to the continual improvement in the quality of maintenance services.
  • Ensure the workshop is kept clean and safe and all tools and equipment are well maintained and stored after use.
  • Ensure positive communication between maintenance staff and operations staff to achieve the effective maintenance of the bus fleet.
  • Participate in maintenance meetings to improve the workshop effectiveness and efficiency.

Competencies

  • Recognised qualification as a diesel mechanic.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in conducting bus repairs and maintenance work to a high standard.
  • The ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Sound communication skills including the recording of maintenance information.
  • Demonstrated people skills and an ability to work in a successful team.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and schedules.
  • Hold a relevant heavy vehicle license.

Summary of Conditions of Employment

  • Competitive wage rates
  • Wage Period – Fortnightly
  • Working Week – Guaranteed 38 hour week
  • Overtime – Time and a half for all overtime exception Sundays (double time)
  • Annual Leave – 20 days per annum
  • Sick Leave – 10 days per annum

  • Long Service Leave, Parental Leave and Bereavement Leave provided in accordance with Legislation
